General Course of the Class:

Rab introduced us the Google Sites, showed how to insert related files and design a logo for our company. Firstly, Rab opened a blank Google Site page. He showed us how we can find it on the web asked us to create a our own site and start designing immediately. He also shared an example website he creating while he was giving the lecture to show us how it looks when we create it.  Secondly, we learned how to make a header, insert photos and use themes for our blank website. It was super easy to add columns unlike the WordPress style once I tried to use on my own. Inserting files from other google services such as slides, documents etc. was very convenient to use as well. Finally, we made our logo using Canva. It is super easy because you can just select one of the premade logos and make little adjustments there. It took me 5 minutes to complete our logo. Today was amazing in terms of learning how to make webpage, creating our own and designing our unique logo for our team.


My Reaction:

I was so surprised that Google has such service and I spend time using Google Sites not only in class but creating my own webpage too later on. First thing I loved most about learning Google Class was it made having a personal website much more easier for me. Unlike WordPress it is much easier to use regarding making a well-fit lay out and text for a page. Also, adjusting the order of the pages was so easy compared to WordPress. Secondly, since I already use other Google services frequently I loved the fact that the most important digital tool I use, which is google drive, can be linked with the website of mine. I could easily share a form, a document or any media file I want. Lastly, after the class ended I created my professional website which is I am proud of. It left me with a great feeling of being able to use technology to show people what I have done in my life in the professional sense. I used my website to apply for for educational programs and it helped me to better understand what I want to do in the rest of my life and what is the thing I most like to do with my life. Learning about more this Google service, experiencing very easy to use interface and creating my own website was super entertaining.

In a lecture I recently atteneded, I learned somehting new in terms of the concept of climate change. Nigeria and Measles

 Nigeria is the most effected country from measles compared to the other countries. One of the major causes of child deaths is measles according to IDP (internally displaced persons) camps reports. The special condition of Nigeria is also linked with low routine immunization (RI) coverage, because Nigeria  has experienced these outbreaks repeatedly. Large measles outbreaks are affected Nigeria in 2019 and UNICEF and WHO declared that and 79 percent increase occurred in the 2022. Borno State is the most affected of all. As of August 20202, Global Measles Outbreaks page is updated and Nigeria has a record of 18,628 cases (WHO Data). Another problem is that US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that many countries already put off measles campaigns due to COVID-19 pandemic.
